What has been your highlight of the year?
Attending Westminster with Ian Hodgkinson of Hodgkinson Builders. We helped to organise an event, which saw his bricklaying apprentices build a wall in front of Big Ben to highlight the skills shortages in the UK.
We carried out the full PR campaign for the days events, and TV news were in attendance. We had a fantastic day, made some great contacts, and took our skills to the next level.
And your lowlight?
Half way through this year, one of our longest standing members of staff left us, and I was concerned about replacing him. I often find it hard to recruit PR people of a high standard, and as we only employ trained journalists, this can often be tricky. As it turned out, we found Sarah, an ex content editor from Johnston Press and the rest as they say is history!
How do you think 2016 will be remembered?
As the year that Brexit shook the business community, but as the year which saw local businesses busier than in previous years. January looks to be an extremely bright month for our team at Poppy-PR
Hero of the year?
Our business hero is The Hod Father (aka Ian Hodgkinson). He has to be one of the most positive people I have ever met, and has a serious can-do attitude to business.
And villain?
The same as last year: the taxman!
What’s your New Year’s Resolution?
To partner up with more marketing agencies locally, to attract more construction clients, and to expand our growing team.
