Stripclub creates ultimate food ‘porn’ with Project D collaboration

Self-proclaimed ‘X-Rated’ burger brand Stripclub Streetfood has launched its naughtiest creation yet by replacing the usual brioche bun with a bright pink, sugary doughnut from Project D.

Solihull-based Stripclub Streetfood, which won the Blogger’s Choice Award and came second overall in this year’s National Burger Awards, has become the latest brand to strike up a deal with Derby doughnut phenomenon Project D.

The street food vendor, which prides itself on serving the UK’s ‘filthiest’ burgers at stalls and events across the Midlands, has dubbed its new sweet & savoury burger ‘Project S’.

The indulgent treat consists of beef patties, bacon, cheese and mouth-watering relish crammed between one of Project D’s best-selling ‘Homer’ doughnuts, which has been sliced in half.

The Project S burgers will be served in pink Project D boxes and each customer will be supplied with a pair of pink latex gloves to keep their hands clean.

The collaboration emerged as a result of the two firms sharing similar bright pink branding and a playfully irreverent business ethos.

Stripclub Streetfood’s owner and founder Tom Hope (35), an accomplished head chef and former London restaurant owner, said: “People go wild for that sweet edge to their burgers – and this one is set to be a real showstopper.

“With the help of Project D’s amazing doughnuts, the Project S burger will no doubt give people something they haven’t had before.

“Even those who never thought this mix would work have been very curious to try it – and very pleasantly surprised by the result.”

Stripclub Streetfood is no stranger to unusual ingredient combinations that have proven very popular. Its Bacon Biscoff, for example, which has a sweet biscuit perched atop the savoury-filled brioche bun, is described as the type of burger ‘you love but want to hate’.

Other creations include the ‘Kiss’ burger, the ‘Truffle Drip’, the basic ‘Quickie’ burger and the hot and spicy ‘XXX’ burger.

The partnership with Project D was kicked off with a private lunchtime event at the doughnut manufacturer’s headquarters in Spondon, Derby, with a free burger giveaway courtesy of Tom and his team.

Max Poynton, operations director for Project D, said: “While we’ve had some amazing, high-profile collaborations since we launched in 2018, this new venture with Stripclub Streetfood is definitely one of the most interesting.

“Who’d have thought to add one of our sweetest and most colourful products to a burger? It sounded mad at first, but after witnessing the result first-hand I would strongly recommend people try the Project S burger.

“We’re always on the lookout for likeminded brands that don’t take themselves too seriously, and the Stripclub brand is so much in sync with our own that it’s probably a match made in heaven.”

Stripclub Streetfood can regularly be found at Taste Collective, in Mell Square, Solihull, Digbeth Dining Club, in Birmingham, Herbert’s Yard, in Longbridge, Birmingham, and multiple events across the Midlands and beyond.
